Dear Neighbors:

On behalf of the Village Board, I would like to wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year. As I look back on 2011 and ahead to 2012, there have been a number of developments in Menands that I would like to share with you.

Public Assessment Website

NYS has mandated public access to assessments on each assessing units Public Web Site.  The Town of Colonie is the Village’s Assessor and their web site is http://www.colonie.org/assessor/

Revised Two-Source Recycling Guidelines

Glass bottles and jars (all colors), Cans, Plastic bottles and containers.

MUST BE SEPARATED FROM

Newspapers, Corrugated Cardboard (broken down), Office Paper (all colors), Junk Mail (including envelopes and coupons), Telephone Books, Magazines & Catalogs, Computer Paper, Brown Kraft Bags, Paper Egg Cartons, Box Board (empty cereal boxes & shoe boxes) and Soft Covered Books.

Stormwater News

We are introducing a new feature on the Village website that will discuss stormwater and related issues for the education and benefit or our residents and business owners. In this way, we will provide information about stormwater and its effect on the environment and what the Village is doing to develop an effective stormwater management program.
