Line of Duty Death Fire Police Captain 844 Edgar H. Scott 10/11/31 - 04/03/07
At roughly 4:50 pm on April 3rd 2007 the Menands Fire Department, Police Department and Colonie EMS were dispatched to an auto accident on interstate 787 northbound, south of exit 6. Menands Police, NYS Police, Menands Fire and Colonie EMS arrived and found a motorcycle vs. car accident. The victim form the motorcycle sustained minor injuries and was transported to memorial hospital by Colonie EMS. A Menands Fire Police vehicle that responded to the scene was involved in a collision with a propane tanker at roughly 5:07 pm. As a result of that crash three Menands fire police officers were injured, one fatally. Two of the fire police officers were transported to the hospital by Colonie EMS and Mohawk Ambulance to Albany Menorial Hospital. In October of 2007 Scotty's name was placed on the New York State Fallen Firefighters monument in Albany. In October of 2008 Scotty's name was place on the National Fallen Fighters monument an the Nation Fire Academy in Maryland
